Ian Borak | Hitmen Drumline
Toronto-based drummer Ian Borak has performed and toured across 5 continents while performing with diverse artists like The Drifters, Latin Grammy-winning pianist Jovino Santos Neto, Johnny Thunder, KASHKA and Patrick McMahon. Ian has played nationally and internationally on Canada AM, PBS, Breakfast Television, TFO, Sportsnet, CBC Sports, ESPN and ABC.
An in-demand studio musician, Ian has worked with artists featured on Paper Bag Records, Royal Mountain Records, Daytrotter Studios and producers Nathan Ferraro (The Midway State), Nixon Boyd (Hollerado) and Nyles Miszczyk (Jay Holy). Ian has also performed in the orchestras for the musical productions West Side Story, Annie, Chicago and Piano Man.
A well-rounded musician, Ianʼs compositions and arrangements have also been performed by the much-lauded Jim Knapp Orchestra. Ian is an accomplished classical percussionist, and has performed with the Seattle Percussion Collective and the Seattle Modern Orchestra.
Ian is a two-time DCI top 8 finalist with the Madison Scouts and has studied marching percussion with Colin McNutt, Lee Beddis, James Sparling and Ian Hale. He currently works with youth drumlines throughout Ontario and serves as an adjudicator with the Canadian Drumline Association. Ian holds a Bachelor of Music, Magna Cum Laude from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, Washington, and Diploma in Jazz Performance from Mt. Royal College in Calgary.
